A Rohingya Woman Gang-Raped And Killed By Notorious Myanmar Military

Maungdaw, Arakan – A Rohingya woman from Bauk Shu Phwae Rar (Aung Zan) village tract in northern Maungdaw Township in Arakan State was gang-raped and killed by notorious Myanmar military.
On June 3, 2014 at about 9 pm a group of Myanmar military men from battalion 352 entered the house Zakir Ahmed located in Saleh Taung. They then raped Anowar Begum, Zakir Ahmed's wife.
Anowar Begum died while being raped. According to locals, the military men raped her, one by one. She died while the fourth military man was raping her.
A few days ago, another Rohingya woman was raped by Myanmar Border Guard Police No. (4) area in-charge Police Major Wai Linn Ko and two from the Village Administration in Maungdaw district. Thus far no action was taken by the concerned authorities.
There was also no action for taken against the military men gang-raping and killing Anowar Begum on June 3, 2014 by the authorities.
Although the central government in Naypyidaw and state government in Sittwe know what regional authorities and military are doing on the ground, they have never taken any action against them as the oppression and persecution on Rohingyas is the government’s policy.
