Sittwe, Arakan – The police of Aung Mingalar are adding to the misunderstandings between the Rohingya and Rakhine communities of the Aung Mingalar quarter in Sittwe. They are increasing existing tensions between the two communities by throwing stones at the Rohingyas’ houses.
Today at 9:45 pm there were suddenly some stones thrown at the houses along Min Bagyi Street, located in Aung Mingalar quarter. The glass of Mohammed Shafi’s door was broken and the house behind of his also had stones thrown at it as well.
The security outpost is just about 100 yards from the houses of Mohammed Shafi and his neighbor. Therefore it is unlikely that extremist would had thrown the stones. The local residents said police themselves threw the stones and they are creating more tension between the two communities. They are intentionally creating hatred for their political gains.
