"Rakhines from the villages of Kanthayar and Bodigoon of Baggona village tract have applied to the Maungdaw District Administration to provide security for Rakhines. They wrote to the district administration that they were unable to go to the bazaar of Baggona because they had to to fear of Rohingyas in the village. Therefore, the district administration provided a sub-battalion of Security Force that encamped by the office of village administration. It is under Major Aye Ngwe of the battalion of Hlun Htein. As NaSaKa (Border Security Force) was dissolved in July 2013, NaSaKa at the region 7 camp in the village of Mag-Gyi Chaung (Faatonza), Maungdaw, was replaced by this Hlun Htein Battalion.
Now, the security force started to loot Rohingya passers-by, shopkeepers, vegetable and food sellers etc. If people refuse to give them money, fish and vegetable etc, they beat and harass them. It has become unbearable. We would like to request the government of Myanmar to take action against these security forces" said a Rohingya victimised by these security forces recently.
