A Rohingya Killed In Pauktaw By Rakhine Thugs

Pauktaw, Arakan – A Rohingya from Sin Tet Maw refugee camp in Pauktaw Township, Arakan State was killed by Rakhine thugs and five Rohingya men were seriously injured by live ammunition from security forces afterwards.
This morning a group of Rohingyas from Sin Tet Maw refugee camp in Pauktaw Township went to the mountain to cut and gather wood. The group was attacked by Rakhine thugs. A Rohingya from Donn village was hacked to death by Rakhines. The Rohingya man died there. The remaining Rohingya men managed to escape from the attacks. The Rohingya killed by Rakhine thugs was named Noor Husson, son of Saleh Ahmed (55-years-old) and he was the father of five children.
The survivors came back to the camp and informed others about the incident. The Rohingyas in the camp gathered and went to return the corpse from the mountain. While the crowd was passing Sin Tet Maw Rakhine village, they were stopped by the security personnel placed at that village and the security force shot into the crowd. Five Rohingyas were seriously injuried, according to a Rohingya from Pauktaw.
The Rohingyas in Sin Tet Maw are very burdened and uneasy by the senseless and indiscriminate killing and the attack by security forces that followed. The situation in Sin Tet Maw remains tense. Likewise, in Sittwe security is very tight and police are patrolling more than usual according to a resident there.
