Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's birthday held across the country




NLD General Secretary and People's leader Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's 66th birthday and Burma Women's Day were celebrated on 19th June, 2011 in the headquarters of the NLD. CEC members, NLD leaders from States and Divisions, members from NLD townships, veteran politicians, CRPP members and ethnic leaders and diplomats attended the ceremony. Vice Chairman U Tin Oo chaired the ceremony when Daw Khin Saw Mu conducted as the master of ceremony.

After the opening remarks made by the Chair, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi made some birthday wishes. Then Daw Le Le from NLD Women wing read out the paper released by NLD Women Wing. After that, shortlisted 5 music groups entertained the audience. While referees were discussing for selection of the prizes for music awards, a group led by a musician Ko Nyein Thit staged a one act play.


Then winners of the music awards were declared; the first prize was awarded to Sanchaung Township NLD, second to Pegu Division NLD, third award to Karen State NLD and special awards go to Insein Township and Irrawaddy Division. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi provided the awards to the respective winners. Then honorary awards were given to each and every music group that participated in the contest by Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, CEC members U Than Tun, U Hla Pe, U Ohn Kyaing and U Win Htein. Then the Chair of the ceremony made final remarks and wishes for Daw Aung San Suu Kyi before it ended.

It is reported that there were some other celebration of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's birthday made in other States and Divisions including Rakhine State and Magwe Division.
